Key Job Functions:
At VetPowered, the CNC Machinery Repair Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing CNC and industrial equipment. This position focuses on troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance to support safe, efficient, and accurate machine operation. The role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and the ability to work both independently and with internal teams and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Machine Installation and Setup:
  • Install and set up CNC machines according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct thorough testing and calibration to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Routine Maintenance:
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Inspect, clean, and lubricate machine components according to maintenance schedules
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Perform repairs in a timely manner to support production schedules
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including shears, press brakes, ironworkers, saws, CNC mills and lathes, plasma tables, lasers, waterjets, and related machinery
  • Support equipment transport, rigging, and setup as required
Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance and repair history
  • Document machine adjustments, modifications, and configurations
  • Track work performed on equipment, vehicles, and assigned assets
Training and Support:
  • Provide guidance to operators on proper machine use and basic maintenance
  • Support production teams with technical questions and troubleshooting
Safety Compliance:
  • Follow all safety procedures during service and maintenance activities
  • Identify and address potential safety risks related to equipment operation
Collaboration:
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to improve equipment performance
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and customers to support service delivery
Service Calls and Expectations:
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent VetPowered appropriately on customer sites
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding scope of work, findings, and next steps
  • Prepare quotes, perform work, and coordinate materials as needed to complete service requests
  • Deliver consistent, professional, and respectful customer support
  • Review service contracts and repair requests prior to and during service execution
Other Duties:
  • Support shop and field operations including maintenance, cleaning, diagnostics, and equipment rebuilds
  • Assist with facility maintenance as needed
  • Deliver or pick up parts, materials, and supplies
  • Safely use hand and power tools
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of company operations
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and company goals.
Qualifications & Work Experience:                                          

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily (with or without an accommodation). The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or education a plus.
  • 5+ years of industry experience working for a large OEM, or a third party service company such as DMG, Nakamura, Methods, Fanuc, DM Solutions, Ellison, Citizen, Makino, Star, Takisawa, Matsuura, Hardinge, Usach, Kellenberger, etc
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machining Service Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine operations and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in the use and employment of advanced machine tool calibration systems such as Renishaw QC-20 Ballbar and XL-80 Laser Interferometer.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with various CNC control systems and software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Important Notes                                                                                
Position Details: This is a full-time hourly (non-exempt) position (40+ hours/week). Overtime may be required based on workload and customer needs. There may also be opportunities for weekend work.

Pay: This position includes base hourly pay, with eligibility for overtime and potential incentive compensation.

The range of pay for this California-based position is $38.50 - $50.00 per hour.
The actual compensation offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. If your experience differs from what is listed but you believe you can add value to VetPowered, you are encouraged to apply.

Benefits and Perks: VetPowered makes available comprehensive benefits the 1st of the month, following the date of hire. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear 10-30lbs (35-75lb W/M).  Applications may include but are not limited to repetitive work using a computer keyboard, mouse and headphones while sitting and/or standing at an assigned work desk area.

Work Environment: The employee works in a contract manufacturing facility in an urban industrial neighborhood. Other areas within the facility are mixed use such as administration, classrooms, welding, and machining areas.

Employee may have additional environmental hazards such as: chemical, electrical, flammable, or mechanical in nature.
